NW Fine Food runs two award schemes: NW Young Chef of the Year and NW Producer of the Year.
North West Young Chef of the Year
Young Chef of the Year encourage talented and creative chefs aged between 16 and 25 to enter. NW Fine Food runs the competition to raise the profile of catering as a career, and to increase young chefs’ knowledge and understanding of the exciting local produce in the North West. The winners go on a superb placement with nationally renowned chefs.
In 2008, the winner was Simon Salt from Nigel Smiths Restauarant at Ribby Hall in Lancashire. Simon has won an international work placement bursary which will see him furthering his skills abroad.

North West Producer of the Year
NW Fine Food Awards have been run in the North West by NW Fine Food for the last five years. The hotly contested event, attracts hundreds of entries each year and is judged by an expert panel of 24 judges including leading North West chefs, national food writers and guest judges. The category winners form a fantastic taste guide to the best cheese, bacon, ice cream, chocolate, sausages, desserts, drinks available in the North West. Click here for the full list of winners.
