Perhaps of all the North West counties Lancashire can boast the widest diversity of the foods it produces.
From the heights of the Bowland Fells and West Pennine Moors where our farmers rear some of the best beef and lamb available anywhere, to the sweet green pastures along the A6 where the dairy herds supply their milk to produce the world renowned Lancashire cheeses of Garstang, Inglewhite and Chipping.
Closer to the coast and along the flat outreaches of the Fylde and Ribble mouth lie the richest soils in Lancashire and it is here that our succulent vegetables are grown; and who can resist the temptation they present at farmers markets in that area?
Not only does Lancashire thrive on its food diversity it has also earned wide respect for its long held tradition of chefs committed to sourcing the very best local foods available and then creating exquisite dishes which enhance their effect on the palate.
The NW Fine Food Lovers Festival Lancashire held each August at Stonyhurst exemplifies the fine local food on offer from the county and together with Made In Lancashire we actively support and encourage the wide selection of farmers markets held throughout the year.
